Shailene Diann Woodley was born on November 15, 1991 in Simi Valley, California. to Lori a middle school counselor, and her father, Lonnie Woodley, school principal. Shailene is an American movie actress and she began her career through modeling, when she was four years old. Shailene is best known for her role as Amy Juergens in the ABC Family series "The Secret Life of the American Teenager". She is also know for co-starring alongside George Clooney in the film "The Descendants", for which she won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Supporting Female and was also nominated for the Golden Globe Award for Best Supporting Actress. Recently Woodley starred as Beatrice Prior in the film Divergent, and will play Hazel Grace Lancaster in the film adaptation of John Green's novel The Fault in Our Stars. In Divergent Woodley played the lead role, the movie is set in a world where people are divided into distinct factions based on the human virtues.
